Opportunity to Profit From Niche Marketing

One of my "almost secret" weapons in developing niche sites is a membership site that opened up to the public a couple years ago. It's called Nicheology, and offers monthly reports on specific, often highly profitable, topics around which members can develop new web sites.

In order to make sure that there wasn't a huge amount of competition for individual topics, the founders of Nicheology generously capped membership to a relatively small number. Even though probably less than 5% of the members take the time to develop a site around an individual topic, the cap is there to make sure a topic doesn't become overly competitive overnight.

The membership site has been closed to new members for many months. Now, for only the second time in its history, membership is being opened up for a very short period of time to replace members who dropped out in the last two years. The last time the membership was opened up, all the available spots were taken in less than a week, and it's anticipated that the same thing will happen this time.

If you are interested in having many hours of work done in niche research for you, I recommend that you hurry over to the Nicheology site now before it's closed again.

One somewhat irritating thing about Nicheology is that all the prior reports are still available, that's 16 full months worth of value to get you started, so you might want to jump on this one, it will probably be close to another year before you have the opportunity again.

Article Announcer review: Is it worth it?

I finally received my copy of Article Announcer today, I eagerly awaited it, and due to a snafu at their fulfillment center, it was shipped about 3 weeks late. I've been waiting to check it out before deciding whether to recommend it to my readers or not.

First things first. During the dead time while I was wondering if it would ever get shipped, Article Announcer's creator, Jason Potash, didn't run away from my angry emails. To his credit, he kept in touch and replied to each and every request for status. I've had this happen before, things can happen, and from experience most of the big guys hide behind their keyboards. Not Jason. Thanks, Jason.

To begin with, I already had the pleasure to listen to the audios that were included with the package, because as an owner of John Reese's Traffic Secrets package, John and Jason had the original 4 hour intensive interview that's included, and it was provided as part of Traffic Secrets. So what I was waiting for were the videos, the workbooks and written materials, and the all important software.

Verdict: I haven't fired up the software yet, I trust it will work, but the main value in the course, short term and long, is the instructional videos and the audios. The instruction will give your master's degree in article writing. Software products are a dime a dozen, you can get a good submission program like Article Announcer written on eLance probably for a few hundred dollars, I'm sure there will be copycat competitors coming out any day now.

The real value that separates Article Announcer from any others that might come out shortly is the fact that this is not only a software product, it is a top notch training program. If you listen to the audios, view the videos, read the transcripts to refresh your memory, and then sit down, you can't help but be miles ahead of 90% of the other internet marketers that are trying to win the search engine wars and suck maximum money out of their web sites.

Yes, the wait was worth it. I certainly wish I had it 3 weeks ago, because I'd be 3 weeks further down the road now. But my opinion is that the Article Announcer package (with or without the software submission software), is well worth the investment. Those who pay attention and take action will see their incomes zoom, not overnight, but 6 months from now their investment will have been paid back many times. You can take that to the bank.

New Google AdWords rules are coming soon

Google recently announced that they are changing the way the popular advertising method works. It brings a whole new challenge to those of us who have learned to live with, and adapt to, the current methods.

Although the changes are subtle, and somewhat confusing, it seems from reading (between the lines to a degree), that gone are the days of minimum CTR's for ads (currently you have to maintain at least a .5% CTR or your ad will be disabled), and gone even are the days of minimum bid prices of .05 (it seems that you can pay as low as a penny in some cases).

I'm sure some of the AdWords experts like Perry Marshall and a few others will come out with new "definitive guides" as modified by the new rules, but for now I'm letting my campaigns run as they always have, and we'll play it by ear once the changes take place.

One place you should check out for the latest news, as well as Q&A's straight from the experts, is the Google AdWords blog itself. It's great reading if you're using AdWords to capture traffic and (hopefully) make money.

Free Search Engine Optimization Book

If you have a web site, you probably heard or noticed that Google updated the toolbar page rank in the last few days. That's great news for many, bad news for some.

Since Google only does this every few months anymore, anyone who created a new site recently has been anxiously awaiting the vote to come in. In actuality, it's only a formality, because Google itself always has the current status of a site in its databases, and it really doesn't matter what the toolbar says, what matters is where your site ranks in relation to all the thousands or millions of sites that mention your best keywords.

In other words, if you're trying to get found for the phrase "rubber duckies", first of all good luck, and second of all, if you're on the top page of results it doesn't matter whether you're a PR 1 or a PR 7. But it's nice to have a good grade, isn't it?

Creating Google Sitemaps? Save your money!

The theory behind them, and what Google promises, is that it will help their spider find your web site pages quicker and more efficiently.

That's great news if it works as advertised, gone will be the days when you put up a site and waited for the spiders to find all your pages, a few today, a few more next week, some not for many months.

The first day I found out about this new feature I became very excited. However when I found out the sitemap had to be created by their site map generator, which needed the Python language, which I knew nothing about or how to get on my server or PC, I was frustrated. I assumed that companies would come out with generators of their own, at a price, to make things easier for us non-techies.

I've been waiting, and actually, fortunately, yesterday I found a package that promises to easily create a site map XML file for you to upload to your server. I'm testing right now to see if it works as advertised, and will report back soon. But that's not why I'm writing today.

Today, I received multiple emails about a new product, which shall not be named here, which generates Google site maps for you. It sounded too good to be true (assuming I didn't find a different package yesterday), until I saw the price ($147.00). Although I'm sure that the developer paid a programmer to write the software package for him, I'm sure it does nothing more than what the one I found yesterday does. And that one was FREE.

For today, I'm not naming names, but as soon as I find out if my free solution works, and if it gets more of my pages indexed quickly (I'm testing it on a site that has 111 pages indexed today, out of 200+ that have been on my site for several months without the rest being found by the spider). If those missing 90+ pages show up in the next week or less, I'll be a raving lunatic with excitement, and I'll let you know how with a more indepth review of the process and the software package I'm using.

Until then, I suggest that you don't spend $147.00 on a package to create Google sitemaps.

I'll bet you've already heard!

Why does it take so long to get good rankings at Google anymore?
