any web sites rely on the Google AdSense program to earn income. It can be a very profitable venture, good for Google and good for webmasters all over the globe.

However, approval for an AdSense account brings with it a definite code of conduct that many overlook until it's too late. On this page I'd like to list the top ten ways to lose your account, so that you can take steps to make sure you don't fall into one of the areas that could threaten your ability to continue earning income from these ads.

Here are 10 quick ways to lose your good standing in the Google AdSense program:

10. paste a Google AdSense code snippet inside a software application, for example inside a toolbar that others download.

9. modify the AdSense code or Google search box code in any way, shape, or form. For example it is not allowable to preload a search query into a search box.

8. show competing search boxes on the same pages as AdSense ads or Google search boxes.

7. display AdSense ads on pages which may violate copyright laws, including sites that offer downloadable MP3's, videos, or images.

6. offer an incentive to click on a link, or display words of encouragement to click on an AdSense ad.

5. discuss your AdSense revenue or other statistical results with a third party.

4. place AdSense code on a site with excessive profanity, or a page that promotes violence, racial or religious intolerance, hacking, pornography, illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia, gambling or casino-related content.

3. place AdSense code on a page with popups, popunders, or exit windows that interfere with site navigation or obscure the AdSense ads.
